Description

Crafted from raw materials sourced from Tibet, this incense contains no chemical additives, offering a pure and authentic fragrance.

This Tibetan incense is meticulously handmade, adhering to ancient practices passed down by sages, particularly under the guidance of Lozang Penjor Rinpoche, the esteemed scholar and leader of the Tibetan Medical Institute. Made from natural Tibetan medicinal herbs harvested on the plateau, the incense is free from additives or chemicals, ensuring its purity and harmlessness. It serves as a perfect offering to the Three Jewels (Buddha, Dharma, Sangha) and provides benefits such as harmonizing the body and mind while purifying the spirit.

The tradition of Tibetan incense-making originated in ancient India and gradually took root in Tibet. Its recipes include the “Six Flavors” formula personally transmitted by the Indian master Nagarjuna, the incense-making methods detailed in the “Secret Good Explanation” of the Nyingma tradition, and formulas from the “Kalachakra Tantra.” These were translated by the renowned scholar Rinchen Zangpo and others, combining multiple ancient traditions. The craft initially thrived at Tashilhunpo Monastery and later at Chakpori Medical College in Lhasa.

Following the decline of Buddhist teachings, one of the principal disciples of the second Dzongsar Khyentse Chökyi Lodrö, the esteemed physician Chögar Rinpoche, founded the Chakpori Tibetan Medical Institute in India in 1992. This revival of Tibetan medical traditions and incense-making techniques included contributions from great masters like Lhündrup Tso. That same year, Rinpoche prepared the renowned Tibetan medicinal formula “Orgyen Chodrak” in the Ladakh Medical Association’s capital. With the sponsorship of the third Dzongsar Rinpoche, the formula was recreated in Ladakh in 2002.

The current Dzongsar Pandruyal Tibetan incense from Derge adheres strictly to these venerable traditions. Crafted to promote relaxation, peace, and well-being, this incense is made using the wisdom of ancient masters and Tibetan medicine. The ingredients include precious herbs gathered from the foothills of high-altitude snow-capped mountains, such as Rhodiola, Nardostachys Jatamansi, Lepisorus, Dracocephalum Tanguticum, Rhododendron anthopogonoides, Angelica sinensis, Saussurea Costus, Melilotus, six types of cinnamon, and three fruits—all natural materials suitable for offerings.

Free from chemicals and toxic substances, this incense has the remarkable ability to address obstacles, impurities, and epidemics, both internal and external. It fosters mindfulness, prevents mental distractions, and brings inner joy, while offering protection against infectious diseases, epilepsy, mental illnesses, and non-human disturbances. Daily use of this incense yields numerous benefits. It is produced in Kham, at the Dzongsar Monastery in Derge.
